Hotair balloon tracker (ANDROID)

Dear pilots and crew

 

I wouldlike to let you know, that we have started to program a application for Android mobile phones, written specially for pilot and chasing crews.

 

Some features:

• basics .. speed, tracking, height ..
• Wind
  Tracking the wind speed at specific height (scale) with wind direction shown in graph
• Google map ON/OFF
• Balloon info
  In database phone stored data about balloon (reg, tanks, passengers, type)
• Log book
  Start time, start location, end time end location, duration, balloon info, consumption (approx) .. export to pdf or csv
• Real time online tracking (via our homepage) will be possible to track the balloon .. in fact all balloons will be tracked via our homepage (ON/OFF function)
• Sending coordinates to chasing crew .. real time tracking on another mobile phone ..

Actually a lot of things .. those are just few.Best of All .. a lot of functions will be avilable in free version ..

Sure, take a look a page or two back and you will find a zip file, which contains installation file ;)

An oddity...twice when I have used it....the track has been altered to apparently just waypoints along the route after the flight is closed. It looks perfect on the map just after flight...but if I try the "show on map" option in the Flights Log...it shows a yellow track in straight lines only...not the blue track of the exact flight path.

 

Any suggestions?

Is there a date when the feature/application will be available for the crews to track the balloons location?

sorry .. at the moment there are no future plany. Balloon Tracker is working now in it's final version and since we have some other more importnat plans, future productions is on standby at the moment ...

How does it work concerning the real time tracking on another phone and on your website? I didnt get what website to look for the tracks or how to set a mobilephone up so it will recieve positions from the "balloon" phone...

Tracking on other device was in future plans which are currently stopped. I'm sorry but no idea for know we will work on it again :(

I test today on....on ground level...I know I know... But all seems right.

Sure, I will test during the next flight and you will have my feedback as soon as possible. Weather is not good at time in west of France.
