Can you believe that it's once again almost time for the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta?

It's also time to start talking about the 3rd Annual Aunty Monkey Tailgate party!!!

It's YOUR responsibility to make the 2009 version of the monkey party kick more ass than ever. So here's the deal:

The 3rd Annual Aunty Monkey Tailgate Party will be Monday, October 5, 2009 at Balloon Fiesta Park. The party will start after the morning flight or sooner depending on the day and weather. The party will be located at launch sites J, K & L 2 through 6. If you're coming please keep up with the blog for any changes, or check the homepage.

Just like the last 2 years, the party will be pot-luck style. It'll be beers, good times and lots of your favorite AM peeps. There'll be props, crownings, maybe an ice luge, a few BBQ grills, and much more. There are a buttload of new monkey members, so it promises to be bigger and better than ever before! Bring your own food and beers, and stay out of my cooler.

So they just announced tonight that the Abq Fire Department will not allow cooking of any type on the field this year. No BBQ grill or anything else. Just thought I should pass that along

It was in the pilot video for all of those from out of town we will find out when we watch the pilot video. I think it is ridiculous and wonder do they ban all bbq for all the rv's around fiesta park. It has been said it is the fire marshall, but who knows. No one will come out and say for sure. I can't believe no one has sent a email to all pilots announcing this as we all make plans right now for that week.

I'm bringing my grill and coleman. I figure that if my grill is a safety hazard, then so is my 50 gallons of propane (with open lines charged at 120lbs), 20' flame (per burner), RV grills and stoves, vendor grills and stoves, and so on.

It could be that they are trying to prevent the large number of BBQ grill related fatalities and injuries that have plagued AIBF over the last 37 years.

Oh well. The Monkey Party will go on as planned!
