I loved all of the Forbe's Shape balloons back in the 70's.

My favorite balloon as a kid was the Jolly Roger skull & cross bones. It was a Raven S-55A. One of the old ones with calendared fabric. An oldie but goodie.

I had no idea the JR was your favorite. I was the original owner/operator of the first JR built in 1975. It was my first balloon and indirectly led me to move to ABQ and follow ballooning as a full time job. Yes it would be an oldie, but then again, so am I .

You wouldn't happen to have any old pictures or memorabilia you would be willing to part with? This is and will be my all time favorite balloon ever. Catch me at Fiesta and I will tell you the story as to why it is my favorite.

When I was a kid (early 80's) I had a coloring book from ALBQ and one of the pages was the JR and an eagle sitting on a branch. I loved that balloon too and refused to color that picture...save it for later, didn't want to color it and have it "all be over" if that makes any sense. Every other page had been colored but I never would let myself do that one. When going through stuff after my father passed away in '06 I found that coloring book, with that page still in pristine condition. That took a lot of willpower for a kid who loved coloring balloons....

I personally loved the Pontiac balloon. Not so much because the balloon... Mainly, Phil Glebe was to me like Michael Jordan was to most children of my generation.

I would have to agree about Phil. There for a while it was like everybody else was competing for 3rd or 4th behind him and his other balloons. The Chase Commander setup was always cool to see with the matching paint and all that.

I am much like Casey I wanted to grow up to be a top notch commercial and competitive pilot just like Phil... He was my "idol"... After having some commercial experience the past couple years, I have decided it's not for me..... I am still workin on the competition part
