UPDATE:

"Wheels in the Sky" took place in September 2010 at the Hot Air Balloon Festival in Plano, Texas.  The Flash Team did a great job and made it a safe flight as possible.  Here is a link to the video that was made.  Jim Roybal is an awesome pilot and we are grateful for him taking on this project/event.  We are wanting to do this again but with more wheelers... which means more pilots needed!  Please contact me if interested.

Wheels in the Sky 2010


Hi all, I am new to this site and I'm really hoping that some of you can help me out with a special event in the making or at least point me in the right direction.

I am a wheelchair user, spinal cord injury, looking to start a yearly event for those that are disabled to be able to see the world from a different view, along with overcoming their challenges mentally and physically. Showing that their wheelchair does not define who they are nor should it hold them back.

 

My friend Mark has posted on here but no such luck... so I'm giving it a try.
We have a handful of wheelchair users that are wanting to participate.  Check out our FB page Wheels in the Sky Group!

 

If any of you would be willing to help us out it would be great exposure for EVERYONE... but more the less helping others see their ability not their disability.

I saw Mark's post and assumed somebody from the area would chime in...balloonists are great people and I'm sure there are many that would like to help out but there is already a large ballooning event in Texas that week that will have a lot of the area's pilots' schedules tied up.
