Profile Information

City, Country:
Salida & Buena Vista, Colorado
About Me:
Colin has been involved in ballooning since 1985. He fell in love with balloons when a pilot in Atlanta, Georgia landed in his families yard. His father Jim Graham was an experienced crew-person, so together they joined the balloon team as chase crew members. Colin grew up with ballooning, going to rallies, crewing for different pilots, and eventually began flight training in 1997.

He began his ballooning career in 1999 and opened Endeavor Ballooning, LLC in the summer of 2001. Colin is a Federally certified commercial balloon pilot and has flown in twenty eight states, twenty areas of Colorado alone and driven through forty six of the contiguous United States.

Some of Colin’s achievements have been flying the largest passenger carrying balloon in the United States, starting two balloon companies and flying all over the country at invitation only events. He is looked upon by his peers as having a superior flying skill.

Colin’s other interests include, guitar, singing, drums, outdoors, road trips and anything that flies!

Over Missouri!

Ashland to Ashland

Another day down the road in the Central US.

By Colin Graham

Wow! Today, I made it from one Ashland to the other; and it only took me 11 hours!

But, no in all reality I did go from Ashland, Kentucky to Ashland, Missouri today, the 11th of May 2009, and what a day it was.

It began early in, at 6am when I awoke in my truck from a short stop after leaving Roanoke late Sunday evening. I had initially planned to leave Monday but I got that old “white line fever” and had to ge… Continue

With Ed Ristaino

A few days ago I was talking with my best friend Ed Ristaino. Ed lives down in Charlotte, NC and operates several balloons for the fun of it. He also is a rather accomplished skydiver of over 30 years.

Ed has a lot of in roads with the skydiving community and he happened to mention during our conversation that he was taking one of the balloons down to South Georgia to do a skydivin… Continue

Flying Alabama

Alabama
The 25th state

Story by Colin Graham
With Joel Jones

After a fine weekend of fun and fellowship (note: no flying) at the Dublin, Georgia event I decided to head west just slightly, over to my friend Joel Jones house in the pine barrens of eastern Alabama.

Joel lives in one of the most tree-covered areas of the southeast. He learned to fly here several years ago so to him, an open “direction” of wind is one or two fields the way he is traveling.

Now, I on the other hand, have done a… Continue

NEW YEARS FLIGHT
Over Roanoke, Virginia

By Colin Graham
1/1/2009

For a few years now we have always tried for a new years day flight. What better way to ring it in than with a beautiful balloon flight!

For this one, my girlfriend Clare, friends Jon & Kevin Foster and “Joe” would join us.

My intention was to fly over Roanoke, a city of 300,000 that is within the Roanoke “Class C” airspace. We do it quite regularly but in this particular case I hadn’t flown here since the spring.

Well if your in town give me a call if you still have my #, if not let me know and i'll message it to u. Yeah I don't know about Jodi, she came out on saturday night and helped and talked like she wanted to get another one. I think she wants to get me trained and it might be the only thing keeping her somewhat interested. I just want to get trained also. Each classic I say I'm going to be a pilot by the next one and evey year that dream never comes true. This year I'm closer than I've ever been with hours but still. Yeah they didn't have any shapes this year bc they were in debt but i think the community didn't like that so they probably will next year.

Hey Colin,

Just saying hello. Classic is in full swing. I'm crewing for Wyman Borts this year. I hope Jodi buys another balloon soon, it's really thrown off my training. O well. How have you been?

Hi Colin - Thanks for the invite. You're referring to Balloonavista, correct? Actually, I've been hired by the folks in Telluride to shoot their event this year - its also this weekend, In fact, I'm leaving in a few minutes. I hope to see you in South Park on Father's Day. We can talk about doing something together in Salida. I hear you're writing for Alegria Living this edition! Congratulations! Can't wait to see it. -Paul
