Head bottom ends? what are they like? some have told me they didn't like the burners?

Why did Firefly move away from polyester fabric? The 300 degree redline temp was a big marketing tool for them.

The old Piccard I used to fly was made with 2.9 oz. taffeta with heavy nylon pack cloth at the throat panels. It's heavy, it stinks to high heaven and it's 35 years old with nearly 500 hours on it an…

Ever noticed that senior balloonist have never even heard of this site and don't seem interested in joining?

Well I'm not totally old school, but I got most of my training in Piccard balloons. No uprights in the basket, no gimbal on the burner, no electronic instruments, no pyrometer, no parachute top, not…

The old Piccard I used to fly was made with 2.9 oz. taffeta with heavy nylon pack cloth at the throat panels. It's heavy, it stinks to high heaven and it's 35 years old with nearly 500 hours on it and I'd bet it would still pass an annual.

No, I think the best plan would be pack up & go home, that's just nuts.

A lot of those pics came from the Adams manual. Click on the "Parachute Tops" link in the picture next to the Little Devil basket, that's the top of my balloon, the basket is also from my balloon I'm told.

Here's a cool link for anyone who's interested... http://www.ballooninghistory.com/adams/ there's a photo of a Coors LD and closeup of the inside of one corner in a LD basket. LOTS of other cool stuff on there as well.

Tacsew T1563, Chikon & Juki LU-563, all the exact same machine built in the same factory (Juki). I learned this when I went to order parts for this one.

Esto no es una Juki. Este es un impostor.

I unfortunately can't answer your question on the bottom ends as I've never been around one, but the couple of envelopes I've seen as replacements on other systems have been right on par in quality, (if not better in one case) with all the "big guys…

Profile Information

About Me:
Hello, I've been a pilot since 1986. I worked at World Balloon Corp. in Albuquerque as repair station manager in '86, moved back home to Illinois where I flew the Flying Tomato balloons for a few years. I'm currently in the sign and awning trade and had taken a hiatus from ballooning for a while, and now am getting the yearn to burn again. Looking to reconnect with some good old friends.
