I'm a Farmer/Steel Mill worker/aspiring balloonist from central Indiana. My favorite balloon event is the Great Preshing Balloon Derby in Brookfield, Mo. I also help organize a one flight race at our county fair.
I enjoy crewing every chance I get.

Brian,
I have been in contact with the guy about the balloon school and there have been some changes. This might help you out a lot. There are a few of us from Indy that are going to car pool and if you are interested there will be room. I have been in touch with Randy Caller and he is willing to have both the private and commercial class together. I have forward you the email. This would be a good opportunity to meet others in the sport and give some study support. Call me soon and let me know:
1. Combining Pvt & Commercial
2. Having class every other Saturday to allow more time for study/preparation between classes. There's a lot of material to cover and with everyone so busy, this might help.
3. The first class would focus on the Fundamentals of Instruction for the Commercial Pilots
4. After that, we would have some hands-on Commercial Students teaching the Private students (a learning experience for both).
5. Classes run 8-12.
6. Students expected to study between classes
I had hoped to complete the courses before spring break which is the first week in April I think
I know how difficult it can be to find the time with work /farming. I might try to fly this weekend if the weather holds off and my truck gets out of the shop by then. Are you working with anyone to get your license or "winging it"? I have a ton of books and the test questions if you need them. Also, there is a good program in Michigan next month for getting you up to speed if you are interested. I plan on going for the commercial portion, but if you are interested we could carpool. The funny thing about the location is, it is where I started out flying fixed wing single engine planes.
We just had a baby 2 months ago so my crew help is a little thin and time off for good behavior from my wife is hard to come by.
Brian,
I live between Lapel and Noblesville In. and owne my balloon. I am always looking for crew and if nothing else someone to hang out with and chat about the two things I know most about......ballooning and farming. Born and raised on a dairy farm in Michigan.
What balloon do you have?
