- About Me:
- I became a hot air balloon pilot on November 20, 2001. This was a dream come true for me. I started crewing for the Danville, IL event in 1989 and was hooked forever. My parents sponsored a balloon each year and I fast became friends with our pilots who attended each year. I took vacation from my job each year the week of the balloon event to make sure I do not have to work that weekend. In 1996 my brother, Dean Carlton bought a balloon and took his training from another local pilot. I was so fortunate to get to crew for him often. He then taught me to fly in 2001. I became a commercial pilot in 2005 and have been flying in events in the Midwest and now Canada and Mexico. Since my husband retired and I work very part time we have the good fortune to spend our time traveling all over to fly.

Hi All,
Several of the pilots I met last year in Leon were on Aunty Monkey so I decided to use this forum to see who all was going to go to this event this year.
Several of us from the DBG (informal group that includes most of central lL & IN) are applying. Just drop a line to say "hi" and let me know of your intentions with this event this year.

- Hey Donna!! I just wanted to say hi and say that we were searching for you at Albuquerque this year but couldn't find you. We were at the Lindstrand party on tuesday and we say your chase vehicle and we looked and looked for you but couldn't find you anywhere. Anyway, hope it went well and have fun in Leon!

- I used to be down at that end, but we've been near the briefing tower for the past 5 years or so. You're right, it is much quieter down there...and you guys always get launched before I do!

- My brother lives in Abq. I plan to drive out after labor day and plan to fly a lot out there before fiesta, then do a few more events in the southwest afterwards, returning home around Thanksgiving. Let me know your plans when you decide.

- Hi...sorry to hear about your Dad, but that's great news about your daughter. I'm glad she is doing well. Yes, I'm planning to go to Mexico again. In fact, I'm probably going to spend about 3 months in the southwest this fall, and I'm hoping to get lots of flying in. We've had some good flying weather here lately, I've been testing different systems this year...it's time to replace mine. Now, if I could just come up with some $$$. :-) See you in Leon.

- Hi! Did you fly yesterday morning in Danville? I spent Thanksgiving with family in KC and I will pick up my balloon this morning in Jeff City, then back home to Ohio. I'm glad to be home, but there's already too much snow.
