About Me:
I am a photographer and also own a company where I use my photography and sell bookmarks, fridge magnets, and keychains called Bookmarks by Doug. I carry a large selection of Hot Air Balloon items. I attended my first balloon show in 1989 in Albuquerque and got hooked. I love to be out on a cold morning surrounded by balloons launching. I took my first balloon ride last year at Albuquerque. I am afraid of heights so I was nervous at first, but it was one of the most awesome experiences that I have ever done.

Yes, I own the yellow triangle balloon. I made that balloon, and another one just like it.

Lovely photos on your website - the 2007 balloon calendar photo in your published photos album is amazing. You certainly have some great shots. Hope you have fun on Aunty Monkey!

I am making a series of videos showing all sides of ballooning and would like to use your pics in them? It is just going to be pics and videos all set to music and is purely for fun. You can go to my page and see one I just did to get an idea of what I am talking about.

The only way I will make any money off of this is if someone offers me a job doing this or loses their mind and just gives it to me lol. Like I said, it is all for fun and thanks.

Hi Doug, just looking through the photo's you posted 10/8/08, you have one there with a shot looking up into a balloon, that looks like it has a secondary parachute, who makes this and what is it there for? inflight venting? final deflation?, i've never seen one before - do you know who makes it?

The balloon with the small round vent is a CUSTOM 9 DESIGN. It is a 140 or bigger. (Their 100k envelope has a normal parachute.) The big round vent, which most of would think would be a parachute is a VELCRO rip panel. The small round vent is an actual parachute vent.

Douglas, to answer your question, most balloon only have one vent up at the top. This company (Custom 9 Design) is the only one that I know of that does it this way. You use the small parachute to vent to descend, and you only pull the big one when you have landed and are ready to deflate the balloon.

Photography isn't my business but it is my passion. I got interested in Hot Air Balloons about 6 years ago. I too have a fear of heights. I can't climb a ladder to change a light bulb without shaking, yet I have been up in a balloon 6 times. My first flight was with Tweety Bird with Dan as the pilot and then with Diamond Girl with Ken as the pilot. They made my experience memorable. I my happy to call them my friends.
