Michael, you may be right. Anyway, even if they are a little heavier, a few pounds is worth another couple hundred hours to me! As soon as I get done fooling with buying this house I will be saving up for one.

I've mentioned this before and still haven't heard anybody explain it so I'll try again...(I don't own a Head but will in the near future hopefully). According to the weights listed on their respective websites (envelope only), a Cameron 77 with ...

We have it printed on our flight certificates, but don't do a toast or anything else with it. My parents do the toast so I have it memorized anyway. Some passengers like it, some don't care.

About Me:
I am 24 years old and have been around ballooning for more than 20 of it thanks to my folks.

I got my Private license in August 2007 and Commercial August 20, 2008 and have built up almost 200 hours total in balloons ranging from an AX4 to AX10.

I work at Eaton Electrical 10-7ish so that gives me time to go out flying and chasing with Asheville Hot Air Balloons 7 days a week. My 'real job' is as a Warranty Engineer.

I'd like to build an experimental sometime soon if I can find the time and money to pursue it...

I also plan to obtain a repairman certificate in the near future and help run our FAA certified repair station "Mount Pisgah Balloons" in Candler, NC.

I went to Canton, OH for the 2009 Hall of Fame Festival as a crew chief and the competition bug bit me hard. I'm hoping to shy away from doing 100% passengers flights and get more serious about competition and learn from the best right here in NC including Sam Parks and Ken Draughn. Hoping to get to the serious level of flying within the next few years and possibly fly the Nationals before I'm 30...(money is the obstacle...)

I am also Vice President of the Carolinas Balloon Association and work on the Newsletters, Safety Seminar and Fun Flys. If you have any questions about ballooning in the Carolinas let me know.

This is a link to my Facebook picture album from Freedom Weekend Aloft 2008 in Greenville, SC. I will get around to adding them to the Monkey sooner or later but this should be a public link anyway for now. Feel free to steal any.

Bowling Green was fun, We got the teather/glow and all 3 flights off. We flew 2 tasks per flight (6 total for the weekend). Sat Morning was a fly in to the airport with 2 targets there, then Sat afternoon was a double hare n Hound, and Sun morning was another 2 part fly in to the airport. I scored ok on Sat am, only a couple scored on the hare's Sat pm, I missed both, And I scored pretty well on Sun am. Chase Donner won the event and I took 2nd place by 1 point over Tim Bassey in 3rd.
Have you been flying lately? Are you going to any events before Statesville?

yes I am! My pilot friends say it is from all those years of practicing on myself.

I have always asked that same question, about how the same elite group of pilots are always up top come the end of the event, even though they lauched from the same spots as everyone else. Some of those guys were just born to fly...really really good.
I do fly weekends only, so Sat/Sun works good for me as long as I do not have passengers lined up. So far I really do not have anything planned.. I should be able to get crew here, but we can figure that out later.

P.S. we can go fly the racer anytime you want. I do not know if you will learn anything, but it is a lot of fun to fly. I'm heading to Bowling Green this weekend, then all I have planned is Statesville. So let me know when you want to get together a fly.

I can't complain about 8th place, when I looked at all the big names ahead of me I felt ok. I did not feel like I flew all that great. I did score on alot of targets, but did not "nail" any of them. I had alot of 50m plus drops, I had a couple within 10m but most were over 50m. I guess I just scored on alot of them. And the weather was really wierd, so I felt like I saw most of those targets by luck instead of skill. Sat morning flight was so unpredictable, I still do not know how I saw 2 targets. There was no real reliable direction at all.
I really was hoping on Sam doing better than he did, I felt like he was flying really good this year. He did awesome in Longview, and in Canton he hit the field but missed the MSA by only a couple meters and did great on the intersection, so I was wanting to see him on the podium.I did see him nail a couple targets, but like I said the weather and wind was not very cooperative.....even though I got lucky once, He is STILL my Mentor..

I missed the 1st task to the right because I did not get down fast enough, so I made sure I was in it early for the FON, then just made a quick correction when I aproached it to get a little right
That balloon simulator is a good time, best one I have seen, your name is all over the high score board.
