Sorry to see you go. . .

I have not been much for the Aunty Monkey site and up till recently with the High Sierra Balloon Camp in Reno (I am the Camp Director) not been much for the other social media sites (I refer to Facebook as "Facerace") I am not in the ranks of the younger generation and live by the social media things. I don't text and don't own a SmartPhone and have a perfectly good Tracphone to make the occasional calls (2 in the last month) and it is the best $14 alarm clock I have ever owned. But on the…See More

"So is it looking like the Jackson Hot Air Jubilee will happen in 2010? It is looking like I will have a different truck to make the trip more comfortable and increase any possible profits. I had a blast in Jackson and would like to be back if it is…"

About Me:
Got hooked on ballooning in 1983 when I connected with a wonderful pilot and fellow school teacher in Gallup, NM. It took me a while till I finally earned my certification but the wait was worth it. I am a full time special education teacher and Commercial Hot Air Balloon Pilot but pretty much fly for sport, fun and pleasure.

I own two balloons one regular (a hybrid Lindstrand with Cameron bottom end) and one special shape(Firefly - Off the Wall or OtW, go to the web site to see what it is all about). I did my Off the Wall North America Tour or the "All the King's horses and all the King's men Tour" complete with tour shirts. I did 60 days on the road and drove nearly 11,000 miles spent more time at the gas pumps than I did in the air, but it was worth it to meet all the wonderful people at events and other pilots around the country and into Canada for one event. Spent 5 wonderful days at the BFA Junior Balloonis Camp in Michigan and if your wanting to get a ral charge out of your balloon experience I would suggest your volunteer at one. I am sure y ou could do one day and they would appreciate the help or spend the week and have even more fun. The kids are so full of energy and it rubs off on us.

I did start in Foley, Alabama and work my way north and headed home in mid August, ballooning on the weekends with paid gigs and ballooning on the road between events with my regular balloon and sharing the gift of flight with the small towns on the blue highways of the middle America.

But for now it is fly as often as I can, play with the shape balloon at least once a month to keep it fresh and so I don't forget how to work the three corner balloon flying.

I printed up OtW Tour Shirts complete with tour schedule on the back AKA: Rock and Roll kind of things. With 100% of the profits going to the BFA Camp Scholarship fund, when I sell all the shirts I will be sending in a check to help 3 kids go to camp.

Looking forward to my favorite rally, the Gallup, NM Red Rock Balloon Rally in December. I was one of the early helpers(1983-1989) on this event and as I say on my web site it is like going home familiar places, restaurants and friends. But of course flying the 'rocks' is also the best in the US.

Off the Wall "Y2K&10 Coast-2-Coast" Tour

I am in the last few events of my Y2K&10 Coast to Coast Tour. Hitting the Rock and Roll Museum on my way to an event in Maysville, Kentucky then off to Quebec and the last official event on the long road trip of the summer, heading home with a few stops along the way to fly in different places and to share the gift with others before I head home to my house and dog.

Did have one event cancel and it meant a loss on the money, but the positives the extra time to to ravel home and enjoy the wonders of the USA.

I have plenty of OtW Y2K&10 Coast-2-Coast Tour Shirts for sale $20.00 and I will cover the shipping, actually just got them last week and they turned out great. Sort of an "Ed Hardy-esk" design with flames, eagle, anchor and a rose with the two balloons and of course the tour schedule on the back. 100% of the profits going to the BFA Junior Balloonist Summer Camp Scholarship fund. I spent 5 days at camp in Albion, Michigan and if these kids are as excited about ballooning as they showed us the sport will not die, but continue with many more safe pilots growing up into the ranks of pilots.

Hope to hear from others on supporting this great program,
Jeff
