- I'm 21 years old and have been involved in ballooning for about 16 years, since I was 5. Just recently earning my private certificate. YAY! I also build hot air balloons. Have done a handful of RC models, and have done a single place 32k hopper as well which is very fun to fly! I'm in the beginning stages of building a 65,000 cu ft balloon and am anxious to fly it already! Ballooning is definately a life-long passion for me.
I also enjoy photography and am an avid video-gamer still :) Halo 2 & 3, Gears of War 1 & 2... good stuff ;)
I'm also really into music. Been a guitar player for the past 9 years playing with a couple different groups and friends, and just took a spot playing bass in a band called Annie Up. Music is just as important as ballooning to me. Couldn't live without either!!

Tom Hilditch said… - Not a bad idea, always been tempted to build one. And the idea of one day keeping a balloon out in america is quite appealingl if I was to start going to meets like ABQ on a regular basis it'd be cheaper to leave a balloon out there then ship one over each time.
At university doing a 3 year batchelor of music course now but perhaps when I graduate I may spend the summer out there building one if have the cash. If I can get my head round all the paperwork would be nicer to build one here where I can fly it regularly though. It's been on the to do list since I was about 4...most kids dreamed of being football (soccer) stars, I deamt of flying and building balloons!
As for carrying passengers, main reason for me getting my licence is to fly hoppers as I don't mind flying basket balloons with other pilots although the convenience of not needing another pilot is also a factor. Unfortunately we don't have an ultralight catergory for balloons over here :( Should be all checked out and done by the New Year though :)

Have always fancied the idea of building my own, but the legislation in Europe makes it difficult. Maybe in a few years when I have some time I may look into it more seriously.
