- Started crewing with my best friend in HS on his aunt & uncle's balloon. That was about 1986. After spending about 15 years as crew I got my pilots license in 2002 and have logged at least 50 hours per year ever since. I think I'm a lifer :-)

An Aviation Extravaganza with 40 balloons in mass ascension and sanctioned competition. Lite the Nite balloon glow Saturday evening. Saturday afternoon Air Show with ARC series aerobatic air racing challenge! Food, vendors, exhibits, kids area. All day-airplanes, helicopters, military aircraft, skydivers, powered parachutes, R/C, gliders and more in static display and flight. Some rides for public. Free! $10 parking. Something for everyone!

Although we don't fly her anymore, this is a photo of our first balloon right before launch in front of one of the palaces in St. Petersburg, Russia. Her first owner had her made specifically for the trip. Hopefully I will get the opportunity to do something similar someday.

This is our brand new balloon. Just test inflated it today. We haven't even seen it up close yet. Should arrive in a few days.

Thankful for the small things
Well I just spent the last 6 1/2 hours helping 2 of my crew clean out their house after now that the flood waters have receded here in Cedar Rapids.
