I did a landing like that once in Canada, scared the crap out of me! You pray that the locals are nice and won't make you or your balloon road pizza. The crane shot was great too.
Been crewing for about 16 years and learning to pilot balloons for about the last 3 years. Love the smell of propane in the morning! Love shapes, love traditional balloons. I have been fortunate enough to have made so many friends doing this, and with every festival I make more new friends. I meet others from all walks of life who also love to sail the skies along with me. It started 16 years ago with the Great Falls Balloon Festival in Auburn Me, but I have also attended, Sussex NB Canada, Glen Falls NY, and Quechee VT. It is a dream of mine to balloon New Zealand and see New Mexico in October.
Greetings, Lori;
I can see from your photos we've been to several of the same events. I first saw Beagle Maximus at Quechee a few years back - got some great pics and made a little video. What do you think - will that event get rained out this year?
Lori,
Thanks for writing. You will not believe this but I have known both of those nuts for years. I met Grant in 1985 one morning in Orlando. Kenny came along a few years later. I lived in Orlando for a long time. Kenny is like a brother to me.
They are lots of fun. But as big a nuts as they are, they are both safe in the air. Not so safe on the gound though.
We have been to events in Canada and all over and it is never a dull moment with these guys.
Glad you enjoyed the photos. Perhaps I will run into you sometime at an event. I had planned on going to Statesville but I got sick. If you ever need a place to stay here in NC..the door is open.
Lori, Check out Liberty Balloon School (run by Bill Hughes). They have a class schedule posted. The only class that is scheduled in the northeast is on January 3 and 4th in Amherst, Mass. Have a good holiday and see ya in 2009.
The picture I have up of the Grat Falls parade was actually taken from the top of that monster fire truck... I was up there with the CMN crew chief deflating their inflatible every time a power line came up, then re-inflating till the next one. My main job was to yell to Patrick -"POWER-LINE"
LOL, that would be a great idea, put a patch on him with the black sheep logo, lol. Yea, we have fun up here flying. I just booked the clown in Mexico. We will be at Fiesta then in Mexico. I hear the festival in Maine is great! Would you have an interest in bring the clown back?
Lori,
The Black Sheep Squadron thing is not only infectious, it is a ton of fun and we are meeting people around the US, Canada & Mexico who are having fun with it also.
Nobody will ever be turned away from being an honorary member!
