- Hello, I was introduced to ballooning by my soon to be ex-father in law about 11-12 years ago. He sold his rig due to his eyesight stating to fail. I donot want this family tradition to end so I want to learn to fly. He flew balloons for thirty years I believe and was a former Marine fighter pilot. Although my wife and I are going through a divorce I want our sons (6 & 8) to continue to participate in this great hobby. That being said, where can a person get "official" lessons anywhere near the Central Coast of California?
