I'm a crew person in Kansas - Evening vs morning depends on the day of the week. It's a lot easier for the pilots to get crews on weeknights than weekday mornings. Weekends, however, we seem to have a lot more morning flights. I'd say we're about 50…

Love this picture. What a thrill that must have been for the homeowners to see something like this from their front porch!

About Me:
Been crewing for a little over 7+ years now. Thoroughly enjoy the sport of ballooning and have met lots of wonderful folks. Member of the Great Plains Balloon Club in Topeka, KS. The balloon on the top of the page is the Sunny-D-Lite from Oklahoma City (Ron & Brenda McKinney). I crew for them at Huff-n-Puff and whenever I can at other rallies. At home, I'll crew for any local pilot who asks first!

About the photos

I'm new to this list. I've added some photos of different balloons that are in the Great Plains Balloon Club based here in Topeka OR have been here OR on which I have crewed. I crew most often for the Sunny D'Lite out of Oklahoma City. Ron & Brenda are good folks and I've crewed for them here at the Huff-n-Puff for the past 6 years as well as at rallies in Palestine & Sulphur Springs, TX and Springfield & Joplin, MO. I plan on crewing for them again next year in Sulphur Springs, T

Mark,
Thanks for the prompt reply. Certainly tell Doug I was asking about him. I live about 20 miles from where Doug lived in FL. I met him when he was at the Olive Garden. Actually I wanted to see if he had a fan. I just completed the sewing on a 24,000 cu ft tetrahedron balloon. I built it for my two sons who are in NY and CT. I need to attach the "chute" and vent lines and wa

I just assumed you were in Albuquerque. I visited very briefly with Ron and Brenda. I was under the weather that weekend, and didn't socialize as much as I like to. I didn't even make it to Josie's :( I hope all is well with your family. Keep in touch!

Hey Mark. I always use 2 crownlines whenever I suspect the balloon is going to be moving around. On my load-ring there are 3 attachment straps. Center one is for single crownline use. The 2 others are offset at about 90* and that's how I play out the 2 crownlines. My team LOVES this as it makes their job a lot easier by reducing the rolling of the balloon.

And honestly, the video makes the inflation look a lot more adventurous than it seemed to us at the time. There was even some joking around going on during the hot inflation over a couple of things. But as I said - my team makes me look good.

I am putting a video together with all sorts of ballooning pics and video and I was wondering if I could use your pics/vids in it? It is all just for fun and would be posted here whenever it is done.

I didn't come down since Ron & Brenda were going to Texas. The pilots here were going to fly Saturday morning, but decided not to. Maybe it was good - same could have happened here with torn envelopes. Sorry to hear about that. Let me know if pictures get put on the web somewhere.
