Canberra Balloon Flight

"Hey great video! I was so happy to see my Rainbow balloon in there as well! That was a nice day (20 May 12) and some great steerage and speed at different altitudes. We dropped into Yaralumla Bay Oval (at 3:15 into the movie). Thanks very much for…"

"Oops. Very wet and rainy. Will probably be the most expensive balloon trip I've ever been on given the number of wineries we're going to! Excellent call by Matt to call off flying nice and early!"

"Not once has my fan fallen over. Maybe if you didn't tighten the legs clamps then sure. I'm very happy with the Ventry fan because of it's size, weight, lifting handles, fold out handles and integral spot light as well. As it sits way…"

Nascar has done a swell job of showing the joys of ballooning!

"Ouch! But I don't know if it's worth getting upset about. Probably best not to dignify it with a response. Better yet, laugh along at pilotless balloons seemingly full of hydrogen!"

A group of balloons is called a?

"Baboons move in a troop, and that's fairly close spelling wise!  A troop of balloons? I also like a "Pod" of balloons... like whales... for obvious reasons."

Michael Bannerman replied to JP Quinn's discussion Burn all the way through stand up?
"G'Day All,   I was trained to use the one burn method but I have changed my ways to the puff method.   With a good cold pack (not like the video chap) and gentle puffs, I find I have a lovely full balloon shape that rises under…"

Michael Bannerman replied to Justin Galbraith's discussion Preflight, do you walk through your envelope?
"I'm a "depends" sort of guy. On larger balloons, yes. On balloons with turning vents, only if necessary to free a tangle or trapped fabric. On a balloon without vents, same again. On my balloon with an older parachute vent, every…"

Michael Bannerman replied to JP Quinn's discussion Preflight, do you test your burners?
"Agreed. I run my 'FBI' check before dragging out the envelope. That is: Fuel: Quantity, pressure, tanks secure, tank inspection, leaks. Burners: Pilot lights, main blast valve, liquid fire, cross feeds. Instruments: Set Up, checked,…"

Ballooning for profit, does it take the fun out of it?

As background for anyone who doesn't know me, I started ballooning back in 2008 with the Royal Australian Air Force Balloon (which we use to advertise the Air Force around the country) and quickly fell in love with the sport.
