ola! im nate wilson. my story is pretty simple. i have always loved ballooning. every since i could walk and talk i would go up to the pilots and ask if i could help take down there balloon. and i moved up in job from just squgeing the balloon, to crown line and ect. well next was one year i think it was 2002-2003, i did the same as usual. only this pilot was extra kind and asked me after we were done if i wanted to come down to the field the next day (cause it was during the NYSFOB) and help set up and help. and its been that way since when they come up from maryland every year, and i learned the trade from him slowly.
next was the same, a local very cool pilot saw my interest in ballooning and offered to teach me and crew. been that way ever since to. well i have about 41/2 hours of flight time now, and ive flown in the state of maryland.
well thats about all... peace
hi nate,
we were invited this year, but unfortunately we had a prior commitment we couldn't find a way out of! hopefully next year!!!
Looks like some incredible flying
Hello Nate...
I'm feeling slow going this season - even though I tell everyone I usually don't start flying unti mid-May. Got one balloon back from inspection last weekend, but still haven't flown so need to get current on my first flight. Saturday AM looks great but I have to be at a graduation then. I may go down to Letchworth Sat. PM and get current there - haven't heard from my crew yet either. Sunday I may end up in Syracuse at a relative's party "bring the balloon" they said. Grrr. I don't get too worked up weeks ahead of time about rallies because things always seem to change. So I'll worry about York when the date gets closer. Offer still stands if you need a ride down there. Taking my truck for inspection tomorrow and I suspect new brakes will be in order, so at least I'll be able to stop coming down the hill into Williamsport! Hey, message me on Facebook if you can, I look on that a lot more than here.
Hi again...
I don't like to travel and fly the same afternoon, so I usually like to head down Thursday night - maybe after work. Usually we get a hotel past Williamsport at midnight or 1 a.m. - last year we went to Hershey but it was too expensive, so I won't go that far again. But you can certainly have a ride down if you'd like. It would be good to chat. Usually my crew guy Ed comes along, and often another guy from Binghamton (also named Ed so we call him Special Ed) and his family (wife and two young kids) go down and meet us there. I have another gal probably coming this year, Rosalie from Canandaigua, but no definite commitments yet. I'll probably bring my smaller balloon (90) down - they do a glow and they has a glow burner. If this weekend is good I'll attempt to get current. We'll see.

Nate,
Lisa said you called. Sorry, I was out of town most of the weekend. I flew in Carlisle, PA on Saturday morning with my dad (to get current again). Couldn't have asked for a better flight - stand up landing in a parking lot. Doesn't get much better. See you soon, Damon.
Hi Nate..
Chocolate season is over for me. Halleujah. It was so busy on Thursday-Sat. Like a locust swarm, they nearly cleaned out the place. Good. Now I can think about getting current - if Saturday is good, I'll try (if I can get my truck started). Think I have a flight sort of down your way in Canisteo in July, but I think it's Wellsville weekend so you'll probably be there. We'll see what happens. Seen any balloons yet this spring? Still pretty muddy around here.

Hi again....Not much going on with the old Monkey, so I didn't realize you have left a comment two days ago..sorry. Facebook would get my attention better!
I may be going to the Letchworth thing...It's Memorial Day Weekend, end of May. There used to be an anti-Letchworth rally in Dansville the same time. I was invited to both and didn't go to either. But I may go this year for a flight or two anyway if I can stay with my Dansville friend on Seward St. The weather is often still iffy that weekend...
Alfred will be fun for you - not much ballooning around there except in Wellsville in July. You should get to that rally if you've never been there.
Keep me posted about York.

Hi Nate...Good to hear from you! Yes, it's almost time to think about balloons again. I'll wait until after Easter - my dad makes chocolate so it's a rough time of year - can't think about anything else until Easter is over! Then it will be getting the balloons inspected and getting current...so usually we try to get up in April or early May if it's not too wet in the fields. How's your life shaping up? Graduating this spring? What's up in the summer and fall?? I guess Ron's not doing the Preakness thing this year, but we'll start the rally season in June going to York, PA. Ron should be there. If you want to come along, let me know. -Greg
