Well done to all that competed and made the event work. Sounds like you had fun. As for the technology taking some of the magic away, i think what you will find is that once you get comfortable with it you will have even more time to relax and en...

Just seen the TV coverage - looking at the size of those powerlines you're an absolute hero Sean! Things could have been so much worse :-)

Sounds like there was a fair bit of unnecessary panic - nothing like a good old media beat up. Whatever next...... ?

Loved the article in Australian Geographic - Great Photography.

Hey man how is it going? I really like that racer you fly, I checked out the website and I was pretty impressed by the smart vent and lite vent. Do you have any balloons flying in the U.S.?

Thanks Barb and Gretta,
Made it back home a little damp and chilly but had a great ride despite the weather. The neck warmer worked a treat and plugged the last gap in my armor.

Looking forward to a long dry ride with no crosswind so I can really enjoy that beast.

Hey Sean - great to see you at the meeting - somehow I found it very reassuring when you walked in the door of the Rugby Club. Did you manage to uncurl your frozen fingers from the handlebars when you reached home on Sunday?? That was brass monkey weather to say the least......

Back from outta space..

Today we got to do our attempt on the Australian altitude hot air balloon record, the wing suit distance record and Australian skydiving altitude record.

Furthest flight project

Things are getting serious for our flight to 39,000 feet.

A test run of all Oxy gear and the exit for the wing suit jumpers at 12,000 feet was successful the other day and we are about to drive south from Alice Springs to Curtian Springs for the next test flight to 25,000 feet.

Check out ex65.blogspot.com for more details and links to the main project blog.

APEC airspace adventures..

Anyone reading the Sydney Morning Herald or watching the ABC news
tonight will no doubt get the story about two balloons being forced
down for straying into controlled airspace here in Sydney.

So here is the deal...It was me but we had approval until they told us we didn't.

Sunday monrning, a normal commercial flight with me in a 260 with 11pob… Continue

2007 Australian National Championship

The 2007 Australian Nationals are over and done with. Top three were Paul Gibbs, Sean Kavanagh (me!) and Edwin Michell. Andrew Robertson finished in fourth place which is worth mentioning as this is the same top four as the last Nationals and the same team we sent to Motegi for the 2006 Worlds.

The only change from the last Nationals was Paul and I swapping places for first this year. Finishing second to Paul is no shame, he is just damn good when on his game. Bring on the next National… Continue
