I would like to extend a special inviation for you to attend and/or fly with me to mark the 40th Anniversary of the first flight of a hot-air balloon in Iredell County. On October 4, 1969 Tracy Barnes and I made this historic flight from the Signal Hill Mall at 5:00 pm. Raeford Rhyne
Raeford Rhyne, 85, of 499 Mountain View Road, Statesville, passed away Nov. 21, 2008, at his residence. Born July 9, 1923, he was the son of Luther and Lily Harmon Rhyne. On March 13, 1948, he married Anna Moore Rhyne of Harmony. Raeford graduated Central High School in the class of 1941. He proudly served his country in the European Theatre in World War II as a member of the 393rd Infantry Regiment under General Patton.
