Gordon Bennett bid 2009

As the Gordon Bennett 2007 didn't take place in Belgium, the CIA issued new rules for sanctioning this top notch gas balloon race. Therefore countries can apply for the year 2008 and 2009 to hold this event. The Race will take place in Albuquerque for 2008. For the year 2009 the bidders are, Albuquerque, London, Luxembourg, Geneva and Stuttgart.

Ballooning in Chateau d'Oex, Switzerland

OK, you asked for it! Here's a short story of what it's like to go flying over the mountains in Switzerland in the middle of winter. Or maybe I should just post some photos.

My "new" 1979 Avian Skyhawk

Today I was blessed to receive (free!) a 1979 Avian Skyhawk. I am no longer a balloon-less pilot - I now own an aircraft! Now is when the money really will begin to be spent!

The previous owner hasn't flown the balloon in 10 years, though he has inflated it every year to air it out. He tells me that his wife is not into ballooning at all and they found other things they both enjoy to pursue. He thought it was time someone enjoyed the balloon and that it flew again.
