Must Make Post

Got my first log book yesterday. My dad ordered it for me. So now I can officially start working towards my license. :-) So thats good. Up til now I've just crewed.

Just got done two weekends in a row of festivals. Wellsville was awesome. Didn't hardly sleep at all. Spent the nights talking and listening to bullfrogs, but the weather was perfect for the most part. Only day they didn't fly was Sunday... last flight, and everyone was okay with that. Same thing with this weekend in… Continue

Honor Fly- South Park, CO

Celebration of Honor FLY!

Giving back to America’s fighting men & women!

South Park, CO

July 26-27 2008

By Colin M. Graham

Whenever I have been contacted by soldiers or recent veterans for flight information I often tell them “its on us” as I figure that’s the least we can do is give a little back to these men and women who fight and die for us every day in our foreign wars.

Upon my arrival in Colorado for the summer I was… Continue

My First Air Chair flight

This morning I went for my first flight in an Air Chair.....I didn't think anything could top my flying experiences so far but this has gone straight to the top!

We had a perfect morning with light winds taking us straight past Petworth House/park and over the town square of Petworth.

It awesome to fly low over and drop right down into a pine forest, brushing past the tree tops, and the smell was amazing! Can't wait to go again!

(I don't know how to add pictures here so see my… Continue

Rally For Cody Update!

Three weeks ago I started talking about this benefit and it has grown by leaps and bounds! Items from around the world have been landing via UPS on my front porch and continue to arrive each day. Thank you so much to everyone who has given so graciously. The pins, hats, shirts, cards, etc. will mean the world to not only Cody but his family also.

I need to personally thank Phil Whittington for everything you have done for this benefit. Phil, I do not know what to say except thank you so… Continue

Back from outta space..

Today we got to do our attempt on the Australian altitude hot air balloon record, the wing suit distance record and Australian skydiving altitude record.

Subject to ratification we should have had some success.

Because 60 minutes own the story I have to keep quiet on the out come for a week or so (watch the show on the 3rd of August to find out what happened!!) but I can say that from a ballooning perspective, it was a very… Continue

Solbergian mudhole on the starboard bow, Captain!

Looking forward to a great reunion weekend at NJFEST but it looks like summer as usual in the Garden State. Seems like every year at Howiefest is either HazyHotHumid or slogging through the muck left from a week of heavy rain. This is the first time in a decade that I won't be there with a commercial balloon, and the only glowing we will be doing is on the back of the tailgate with Patron. I am bringing the cloudhopper, and I hope to show off my new Schilling S32R envelope to all my friends.… Continue

Furthest flight project

Things are getting serious for our flight to 39,000 feet.

A test run of all Oxy gear and the exit for the wing suit jumpers at 12,000 feet was successful the other day and we are about to drive south from Alice Springs to Curtian Springs for the next test flight to 25,000 feet.

Check out ex65.blogspot.com for more details and links to the main project blog.…

The Lake is over

And what an event it was. The event started out with lots of promise with 26 Students registered and a total of 36 balloons. It also started out with the promise of a lot of wind. It also delivered on this.

The lake is a rare event in sport aviation. It is held about 40km west of Mildura (home to the 2004 world champs) in australia. Thje area is flat, rwally flat with the only bumps being sandy hills in the middle of the fields. The fields are BIG. On average they are around 3km*3km… Continue

Great Texas Balloon Race

Just got back from Longview Texas where we took Coco the Clown and Buzzy the Bee with Balloon stormers Gary and Janice sines it was a long trip but very worth it. The directors of the race did a great job hosting us, took real good care of pilots, crews, and sponsors. Cant wait to go back next year with Balloon stormers. The food was great! Mo needs a Jalapeno tree and a Bodacious BBQ for sure. Jeremy and i were both spoiled considering BBQ and Mexican are our two favorite foods. Janice won the… Continue

Help "Rally For Cody"!

Hello to all of our ballooning friends!

Our group of balloonists in the Adirondack Region is asking for your help. There is a young 10 year old boy by the name of Cody Pulver who has recently undergone 6 surgeries to remove a cancerous brain tumor. He has one more round of chemotherapy and 6 weeks of radiation treatments to follow. This young man began this battle during his April Spring Break and is a pure fighter!

Cody is the son of one of our wonderful landowners where we… Continue

Lady Bug My Firsta Shape, LOL

I have been flying special shape balloons since 1989. My love for shapes has made it such that I am always looking at items thinking how cool they would look flying overhead. I am always considering my next shape. Or my first believe it or not. What many people don't know about me is that I have only owned 3 shapes to this point. The Little Bees and the Eagle. The Little Bees were my first and second and the Eagle my third owned shapes. Prior to that I had flown the Famous Footwear shoes,… Continue
