In case I run out of time before Christmas hits, I thought I should just wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.



I want to thank everyone for their support of Aunty Monkey. It is incredible to think that it was only 5 months ago that we decided to resurrect the Aunty Monkey cause, in the form of this website. Look how far we have come since then... nearly 500 members and the 3rd ranked balloon site in the world.

I am truly sorry that I upset you, and I do apologize. My profile is Norma Wirt, and I am a new member. I have been in Ballooning for over 25 years. My husband was flying our balloon, and hit some power lines shortly after take-off. My daughters and I watched as he fell to his death. It will be 4 years in February since he died. My daughters and I recently purchased a balloon to get back into the sport he loved so much, and meant so much to our family.

While out in Battle Creek for the Holiday Balloon Festival we met three grandmothers who call themselves the Unofficial Cheering Squad. These ladies, Joann, Linda & Brenda, love balloons so much that they formed their little group. They were at the entrance to the parking lot before each briefing cheering all of the balloons, pilots, crew and volunteers on and making us feel welcome. They were at both glows going around, greeting the pilots and handing out Unofficial Cheering Squad pins…

....and propane. I am happy to say that I finally got a flight in Michigan so we didn't drive all that way just for a coat! Actually the event is worth the drive even if you don't fly...it is that much fun!

Friday morning was windy so the school presentations were all indoors. This was the first time I've done a school program and it was so much fun. We went to Lamora Park Elementary and had about 200 kids, K to 5th grade. The kids were very much into balloons and they all have seen…

I'm new to this list. I've added some photos of different balloons that are in the Great Plains Balloon Club based here in Topeka OR have been here OR on which I have crewed. I crew most often for the Sunny D'Lite out of Oklahoma City. Ron & Brenda are good folks and I've crewed for them here at the Huff-n-Puff for the past 6 years as well as at rallies in Palestine & Sulphur Springs, TX and Springfield & Joplin, MO. I plan on crewing for them again next year in Sulphur Springs,…
