All things ballooning
CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority) reporting has indicated that the average age of a commercial hot air balloon pilot has increase to 60 in recent years. It has also been noted that many have been failing the Annual health assessments. Not only is retesting an additional expense, the loss of license can cause significant financial hardship.
The head medical examnier has released a Pilots Circular noting that, it is more important for our older pilots to incorporate exercise into their daily routine. This is necessary to maintain cardiovascular health (very important for a commercial pilot) and maintain muscle mass.
If you're over 50, you might want to take it easy at first, then do more repetitions as you become more proficient and build stamina. Warning: It may be too strenuous for some pilots.
Therefore always consult your family doctor before starting any exercise program.
NOW SCROLL UP..
That's enough for the first day. Great job.
Have a glass of wine.
