Dangerous accidental balloon release at night glow

No matter what caused the balloon to release, you'd think you'd know where your deflation line is?
Was flying away at night really the best decision? mmmmmmmm

Sorry you have to wait until 4:05 for the good stuff.
Pilot is or probably should be in the shit for this.

So did anything come of it? Any investigations or reports?
Or was he such a nice guy and a great pilot that we have all decided it was o.k and moved on.

I know that I have always taken for granted that my tie off was ample for glows. I will take a different stance in the future. I was half a country away from this incident, and still I have learned something from it.

....if evaluation of an accident (incident) prevents even 1 similar event in the future....done deal. I have learned from someone else's mistake (misfortune). I don't want to say I'm glad it happened, but I'm glad to have something else to think about so that it may not happen to me in the future. More of us need to spend time looking at it in than light and less time pointing fingers and projecting visions of inferiority.

I'm glad I don't have to make all the mistakes myself to learn stuff.

All I can say is that I hope we learn from this and make as minimal mistakes as possible so our sport has a positive spin to it and our insurance may start to come down after the significant increase!! Here's to a great summer of flying!!!!
