All things ballooning

Angus Peart

The Lake '08

The lake is only 3 weeks away today.

Who's going?
Why are you going? (Student, Instructor, Crew, Getting Hours, Comp Training etc.)
What are you bringing? (Balloons, crews, toys)
Am I the only one who's started packing? :-D

Let's here it... :-)

For those of you who don't know what the lake is all about, it's basically a training week held every two years here in Australia at the campground Lake Cullulleraine
You can see it here on Google Maps: http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Lak...
As much as google maps makes it look like it, I assure you it is not on mars, just a bit red :-)

Damn, I'm over this packing business already.
We'll be there in 22hours.
Got a decibel/sound pressure meter from work today so with adam's thermal imager we should be able to get some interesting test results regarding most powerful and or noisiest balloon burners.
14 month olds clearly need more stuff to operate them than a hot air balloon does.

You must be bringing a semi-trailer Justin! Have you guys seen the latest meteogram, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday rain (might be a bit of a lull on Wednesday) - the biggest rain event we've had this year - good for the farmers and the Murray Darling but....... how frustrating.....

Taken from Weatherzone...... bring tarps & towing straps! Might be Benalla all over again.

Rain event should be best in months
Brett Dutschke, Thursday July 3, 2008 - 20:43 EST
The coming rain event will be as widespread and beneficial as events in early June and late May for most of the southeast mainland, but possibly the best since January for some.

The system is already forming over Western Australia and gaining moisture while waiting for a strong cold front to make its way from Antarctica to give it a kick.

It appears that the coldest, most unstable air will form over South Australia and head east across Victoria, New South Wales and southern Queensland from Monday to Wednesday. A large area across these states will benefit the most from the cold, unstable air by receiving heavy showers and thunderstorms.

While some moisture is being drawn from the Indian Ocean, most of it will be sourced from the Pacific. This means that the highest rainfall is most likely to be near the NSW and Queensland east coast and ranges, where 30 to 50 millimetres is possible.

Maybe a little bit of rain monday but I think it'll be alright.
Remember weather reports are just horoscopes with numbers ;-)
