For the first time, I flew a mile high (AGL)!!!!

Guys..

Today I went ballooning, and flew up to 5500 ft above the ground! My very highest ever in a balloon! I got up to 3500 ft and got some breezes from different directions in the face. In my little 4.0 FF basket I rocked around a bit and came above an inversion. Then it got clear above me and hazy below.. it was amaizing! I had only one crew/helper with me.. all the others cancelled.. but I had heard that it can be done w/ one crew with a 65k, so I didnt give up., After I arrived,…

Hi Paul - happy to be your friend. Yes I have just qualified - three weeks ago now and trying to pack in some hours but the weather has been against me! I want to get up to 30 hours nice and quickly. You have a really pretty envelope and a cute baby! I love the ballooning article by Jeff - it's really well written and light-hearted - it sounds like you have great fun. Do you fly summer and winter where you live?

I am making a series of videos showing all sides of ballooning and would like to use your pics in them? It is just going to be pics and videos all set to music and is purely for fun. You can go to my page and see one I just did to get an idea of what I am talking about.

Hi Paul,
Glad you liked the picture!
I loved the balloon the moment I saw it one the Kisses Of Fire website. She's a great balloon to fly and she is tight as well. Very hard to get the air out after landing.
That photo was taking during my approach and landing on runway 321 at Columbia County Airport on my first solo flight. I had taking off 200 yards away from the runway one hour earlier.

Thx - it does look good although I hope you live in a nice clean flying area - and also have an understanding crew who do not whinge and complain about folding up a drop sheet everytime you inflate and packup. (PS If you do please send them over to me.)

No its always been gold. Warm sand I think is the offical color. but it has white dust all over it like someone before me landed in a pile of limestone. it used to be the Miller ginuine Draft balloon. Lokk at it again you can still kinda see the logo and the dot on The I is still there. hence the name SPOT.

We had a great flight weekend before last. Ken, Mike, Art and I flew over the river, dropping in on the Bassmaster tournament that was taking place at the time. I've still not heard whether we made ESPN or not.

How about you, any good flights lately? What is your area like for flying? Also, I heard that you were interested in ballooning t-shirts. We still have Jubilee shirts from the last 3 or 4 years (at a discount, $10 each) if you're interested.
